Augmented Reality - Everyone's Doing It

As 3D artists we've mostly all heard about augmented reality. According to Wikipedia, augmented reality is defined as “a live direct or indirect view of a physical real-world environment whose elements are augmented by virtual computer-generated imagery.”

Mech Attack

This is a clip of a Mech Warrior under attack on a city street. The sequence is made up of 4 shots, as seen from 3 cameras, including hand-held, stationary and aerial. Turn up the sound, too.

The modeling & animation was done using 3ds max. Composting, sound and editing done in After Effects & Premiere.

Although a departure from ArchViz work, this project was fun and used some of the animation tools in the newest max version.

Mech Walk Study

I've started doing the 3D content management of articles for AUGI World magazine. augiworld-content-managers/

They've been around a while, and have concentrated on AEC industry. This year they're looking to expand their focus to include 3d artists who use 3ds max and or Maya in architectural visualization.

The June issue will have an article by Joep van der Steen about comparative rendering engines. Personal website and Company website

Here is a dome light rig, and a camera rig. Unzip the file to get them both. The camera is linked to 2 dummies, for better animation control - cleaner keyframing than a standard target camera.
